Help Desk and Desktop Support

A leading supplier of  piping components in North Houston is adding a full time Help Desk and Desktop Support position that goes beyond the typical help desk role, providing the employee opportunities to learn and master new skills.

Compensation:  $15 to $20 per hour 

Responsibilities
  • Respond and follow up on technical help tickets submitted via phone, email, and walk-ups
  • Troubleshoot recurring technical issues and suggest solutions to address the root of the problems
  • Resolve issues directly, whether remotely or on site; escalate issues to senior technical personnel as necessary
  • Monitor and maintain social media presence and coordinate with the corporate website designers on updates (content and direction provided)
  • Create and maintain documentation for daily tasks, end user instructions, recurring issues, standard procedures and other items
  • Maintain hardware and software inventories
  • Deploy new and replace old computers, printers, scanners or other hardware
  • Assist with maintenance of VoIP phone system
  • Assist with server and networking tasks when needed
  • Assist with WIFI and cell phone connectivity

  • Must be able to lift boxes and devices weighing 40lbs
  • Must be available occasionally after hours and on weekends in emergency situations or for scheduled maintenance operations
  • Experience and extensive knowledge of Apple and MAC products as well as Apple and Android cell phone configuration
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Associate’ s degree, or one (1) year of technical or professional experience related to installation and maintenance of work stations
  • Knowledge of local and wide area networks, computer software and hardware
  • Minimum of One (1) year of supporting users in a corporate environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Technical certifications preferred but not required
