Murray Resources is hiring for a Manual Machinist to produces machined parts from a variety of materials. Ensures a high standard of quality is maintained by setting up and operating an assortment of machining equipment and by inspecting parts for conformance to print specification.

Location: Houston (Hobby Airport Area) 

Pay: $18.00-$22.00

Position Type: Temp to hire

  • Read and interpret computer generated work orders
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, and other specifications
  • Operate assigned machines, make set-ups, and compute machine speed and feeds
  • Make necessary mathematical computations as required per assignment
  • Sets up and operates all machine shop equipment with minimum instruction
  • Maintains quality of manufactured parts by inspecting parts during the machining process, utilizing a variety of inspection methods and equipment
  • Inspects parts, visually and dimensionally to assure conformance to requirements
  • Troubleshoots and corrects problems in a timely manner
  • Improves part quality and production efficiency by editing and upgrading existing programs on machines as directed.
  • Ensures waste is disposed of properly by using the appropriate equipment and by putting the waste in the correct receptacle
  • Maintains a safe and organized work area by observing all safety policies and procedures and maintaining area as directed. Maintains personal labor and compensation records by completing
  • time sheets and related documentation· Assists in achieving the goals of the Company by performing other duties as assigned

  • Able to visually identify and inspect materials
  • Able to operate machines
  • Capable of reading linear tools of measurement
  • Able to stand, sit, bend, pull, and squat to perform this job
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical and/or operating of machine shop equipment
  • May require some programming skills or the ability
  • Tasks may require considerable judgment
  • Able to learn to perform inventory cycle count
  • Understand the Work Order process as required within the warehouse
  • Must have average reading, writing, and mathematical skills
  • Capable of lifting 35 lbs. with back support
  • Able to stand and operate multiple pieces of equipment as assigned
  • Complies with company safety procedures at all times
  • Average reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Takes initiative and can work independently
  • Able to handle multiple tasks at once

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • 2+ years of relevant experience required
  • Operation of manual machines only, Bullard VTL, WS Horz. Boring Mill, machining large diameter piping components
